What Men Want In a Bathroom

Men and women have different expectations from a bathroom. Unlike women, men are not too big on having a bathtub. They would rather have a more spacious shower instead. And yes, like women, men prefer large windows and a lot of counter space. These are just some of the essential things that men want. Let’s talk a bit more about what men want in a bathroom.

A Large Shower

Men don’t spend a lot of time in the bathroom, so they would rather have a large shower than a bathtub. Indeed, most men would rather have nothing to do with a bathtub! So men would want extra space for the shower in the bathroom. Multiple shower heads are a great addition. Handheld shower heads and rainfall shower heads are expensive and not really necessary, but they do make for a luxurious addition to the bathroom for men.

More Counter Space

Men require more counter space in the bathroom – not as much as women do – but enough to place a shaving cream, razor, toothpaste, toothbrush, hair gel, deodorant and other essentials. One of the things you can do is to get rid of the pedestal sink – as it really doesn’t do much at all – and instead add a large vanity with enough counter space.

Bright Lights

Men require the bathroom to be brightly lit as shaving in the dark or a poorly lit bathroom can be a very dangerous thing indeed. As far as possible, natural sunlight is the way to go – but if it’s not so readily available, then consider adding energy efficient LED light bulbs or recessed lights.

Sufficient Closed Storage

Closed storage is a must for a bathroom made for men as it’s so easy for things to get really cluttered – with razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrush etc. The difference between men and women is that while women would rather have open shelving in the bathroom, as they care about appearances, men would rather have a closed storage so that things can be just put away. That’s the best way to ensure that the bathroom remains clutter free.

 Scents that Clear the Air

Men’s bathrooms don’t really smell great. While having an open window can help, another option is to add scented candles to the bathroom to clear the air. This would make it more tolerable for everyone.

Separation from their Partners – At Least in the Bathroom!

Men need their own space in the bathroom, just like women do. If the bathroom is large enough to fit two separate sinks or two vanities, this is something you should consider.

The Bottom Line

So what do men really want? Well, it’s really very easy to make a man happy. Men are essentially simple, uncomplicated creatures – unlike women. All that men really expect to have in a bathroom is to have enough counter space to place their personal stuff, a large shower, bright lights and their own space in the bathroom. That’s not asking for much at all!
